A sad blow for climatologists – NASA’s Glory spacecraft has failed to reach orbit. The Taurus XL rocket was carrying two instruments designed to measure the total direct energy coming from the Sun and another that would have studied particles in the atmosphere that could scatter said radiation back into space.

The spacecraft’s fairing failed to separate correctly, similar to what occurred in the OCO launch a few years ago (using the same launcher).
