Venus is back in the evening sky. Incredibly bright at whopping magnitude of -4, but is usually quite disappointing telescopically due to it’s low altitude and it’s thick cloud cover.

I tried it last night just at dusk both visually and with a 670nm Baader Planetarium IR pass filter. The IR filter lets through near red and IR light. The IR wavelength is less susceptible to adverse seeing conditions – though using it on Venus is extreme to say the least.
